Denver—July 18, 2014—There’s more good news for job seekers according to the latest numbers from the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.  But if you are a hiring manager or small business owner you may need to shift your strategy….or else miss your chance to recruit the best talent.

“It’s getting harder and harder to find good people.  When the  unemployment is at 5.5% and 3.5% of Coloradoans will always be looking for work…you have to shift your strategy,” says Stephanie Klein, President and CEO of Experience Factor, a boutique Denver recruiting and staffing firm that represents experienced professionals working in the IT, Admin and Business arenas.

“Hiring managers need to react more quickly and offer higher salaries, if they don’t want to miss out on hiring talented workers”
Klein says more of her firm’s prospects are getting multiple offers or counter offers from their current employers.

She has practical advice for job seekers and hiring managers trying to fill positions in this more competitive business climate. Job seekers can be pickier and negotiate more than they might have ventured to do a year ago.  At that time the unemployment rate was 6.9%.  According to the state’s June 2014 employment report, average hourly earnings increased from $25.77 to $26.36 for private sector employees over the past year.
